Cause of Spider Veins: Are You Aware of It?

By: Corena Mastin

If vanity is a sin, then there are millions of us who will need to confess it. Just how many hours are we willing to spend in front of mirrors, turning right and left, checking ourselves if we really do look appropriate? And yet it's for a very valid reason. In the end you know that you are strengthened with confidence and self-dependability that allows you to compete with the rest of the world.

There are some cases, though, when you know that something is robbing you of the confidence that you are trying hard to build. You can no longer strut confidently with your miniskirt or go out of your home without those concealers. Are you being controlled by your spider veins?

If you are looking for the ultimate cause of spider veins, then you are going to end up with zilch. Until now nobody can give you a straight answer to that. But then again, perhaps it will make things a little bit easier for you to know that there are a couple of factors that may lead to spider veins:

1. Heredity. According to studies, there are more women who develop spider veins than men. These are females who have mothers and female relatives who also possess such condition. This may be because weak vein valves are known to be inherited. Hereditary spider veins can be used to determine who can possibly develop the condition within your family and what probable age.

2. It's the raging hormones. What happens when you undergo menopause, pregnancy, or when you are under too much stress? Your hormones, such as your estrogen as well as progesterone, are modified. Your vein walls and valves, however, tend to weaken. When there is too much blood pressure exerted, then hormonal changes can be a cause of spider veins.

3. Injuries. Probably you've noticed that there are certain bruises that do not seem to go away. This might be spider vein matting. This happens when the body is undergoing a processing of healing because of injuries. This can also be attributed to sclerotherapy.

4. Too much standing or sitting. If your job requires you to be standing or sitting most of the time, then maybe you have bigger chances of developing spider veins. This is because the muscles are so rested they cannot help circulate the blood back to the heart and vice versa. This, in turn, exerts pressure into the walls of your veins-thus, spider veins.

Are you exhibiting even just one cause of spider veins? If you are, then you should know that it doesn't mean the end of the world for you. It can still be prevented or even cured. You can lose that extra weight or talk to a cosmetic surgeon who can tell you the right procedure that fits your condition.
