Essential elements of a Very powerful mastermind group

By: Lanny Morton

Starting a mastermind group is a great way to surround yourself with positive people. Your mastermind group becomes your personal "Board of Directors" for your life, looking out for your best interest.

When starting a mastermind group, attempt to have atleast 9-11 people. Most of the time, some people will leave town, move away or just get intimidated by the process and quit. You can have an unlimited amount of people, this is just a recommendation.

People seem to attend the mastermind group meetings more often and with better regularity if they are held at the same place and at the same time each week. People are very habitual, use this to your advantage.

Library meeting rooms are a great place to hold a meeting. Any place you choose, be sure that it is a quiet place with very few distractions. Houses are ok, but turn the phone off and keep the kids locked up.

The initial mastermind group meeting should give an overview of what is to be expected for the meetings. It should also establish the ground rules of how the process works. People should be encouraged to show up every time unless of an emergency or something unavoidable.

A great way to teach basic success principals is to study Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Hill's classic book teaches many valuable lessons such as desire, faith, auto suggestion and many more. This timeless classic will get the group fired up and ready to rock.

The time the meeting should last should be at least an hour and not to exceed 1 1/2 hours. Prevent one person from doing all the talking and keep the conversation moving using everyone at the meeting for different ideas.

The more you give, the more you get. Each person should come to the meeting with a spirit of giving. It makes it so you have 10-12 people giving to you in your life at all times. Be about other people and the value you create will be tremendous.
