Just What Are The Physical Symptoms Of An Anxiety Attack

Many people who have had to deal with an anxiety attack, will quickly be able to recognize the physical symptoms associated with this condition. The first sign that you are having attack will be when you start to breath much more heavily, plus you begin to sweat. Other physical symptoms of an attack, include chest pains, numbness to the bodies extremities and they shake uncontrollably. When a person is having an attack they may find that they only suffer from one or two of the physical symptoms of an anxiety attack, whilst others will suffer from all of those that we have mentioned.

In many cases a person who is having any kind of anxiety or panic attack will feel as if they are having a heart attack or a nervous breakdown. This is why so many will often call for an ambulance to then take them to hospital. However, this is not always necessary and although many find that having a medical professional by their side helps them to cope with the attack and get through it. But for those that do suffer from severe anxiety then they have already probably found ways in which they can help to alleviate the symptoms of an attack themselves.

It is thought that when a person has an anxiety attack it is their bodies natural survival response kicking in. This response has helped us to cope and survive with whatever challenges in life we have had to face. Normally an anxiety attack will occur when your body is instinctively responding to ensure that you survive.

Recent studies have shown that repeated panic attacks can increase a person's chances of suffering a stroke or heart attack in the future. People with a singular panic attack, but no history of anxiety disorder are not likely to suffer any heart damage or serious lasting effects.

However, what is unclear is what risk is posed to the person who regularly suffers an attack or is just related to them. There are some medical professionals who will argue that the medication one is prescribed for anxiety or panic attacks could also put a person a risk of suffering heart problems. But what one must note that either way if you are regularly having to deal with any kind of anxiety attack this is a clear sign that you have other problems which also need to be dealt with along with the symptoms.

Dealing with any kind of anxiety of panic attack is not always that easy especially if they are severe. Although your doctor may be able to treat the symptoms effectively, often it needs other ways to help a person find and then deal with the underlying causes of an attack. Today, there are various different types of therapy available which are proving effective at helping to treat the actual causes. Of all the different types one that seems to be extremely effective is cognitive behavorial therapy which helps a person to recognize what is triggering the attack and then work on ways to change the way in which they react to it and so prevent an attack from happening.

Some people also practice deep breathing exercises or advanced relaxation techniques in conjunction with aroma therapy, acupuncture or regular massage therapy. No matter what anyone else thinks, treating the physical symptoms of an anxiety attack is not a simple matter of 'lightening up', or just 'thinking positively'.

It is crucial that you remember that anxiety is a real medical condition and therefore should be treated in much the same way of any other kind. Certainly, if careful attention is taken to deal with this condition then anyone should find that they can cope and deal with the crippling effects it can place on their lives.
