Wheelchair users go off road.

Wheelchair users go off road.

Why should you not enjoy the great outdoors just because you use a wheelchair?

Many of the 750,000 UK wheelchair users are now enjoying the ability to cover rough terrain with specially adapted power wheelchairs.

These wheelchairs allow users to access terrain outside normal pavements and roads, useful when going to the beach, walking the dog or simply enjoying the garden.

By offering 4 wheel drive capability, extra power, improved ground clearance and a more robust construction, off road wheelchairs have been specifically developed to meet the demands of off road use.

Many off road wheelchairs are also waterproofed to beat the rain and allow mud and grime to be hosed off at home.

As a compromised some power wheelchairs now have the option to switch from 2 to 4 wheel drive should the user wish, avoiding the need for 2 wheelchairs.

Many great walks across the UK now have selected trails that are recommended for those with special needs.

We found an excellent website called www.walkswithwheelchairs.com which provides an excellent directory of wheelchair access walks and independent reviews from actual users.

Many UK outdoor activity centres now offer excellent access courses for wheelchair users.
